  • UK Emissions Trading Scheme: Government confirms 2023 criteria for sustainable aviation fuel

    The UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS) will align its sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) environmental performance measurements with the sustainability rules underpinning UK biofuels policy by 2025, the government confirmed. In line with the UK’s existing and future SAF policy and sustainability standards, the harmonized criteria will ensure that SAF supplied to the UK and declared under the UK ETS is indeed sustainable, and that this can also be required under the existing Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) or a future mandate the SAF is operational.
